This was a fun project. The stockings came out great. Crocheting letters is…interesting, but fun. I hope my colleague’s family likes them.

A Pause for The Cause…
I’m taking a break from A Study in Purple. A friend and colleague threw down the crafty gauntlet. “Can you crochet a Christmas stocking?” she asked. “I’d be willing to give anything a go,” I replied. She then added, “How about five stockings, each with the initial of a family member’s first name?” “It shall be done,” I avowed. I call this new project:

A slight twist on the standard granny square

The Next Project…

This next afghan will be a celebration of Shelley Husband‘s designs. Shelly creates amazing crochet squares! The first leg of this journey will explore More than a Granny
The Plan:
- I’ll be using a 4.5mm crochet hook for the squares and a 4.0mm hook for the square and afghan borders.
- For the borders, I’m using MaryFairy’s Cable Border from her 2012 BAMCAL.
- Here’s a great tutorial for this stitch from another crochet legend, Bonnie Bay.
- I’m using Cascade Ultra Pima in the following colors:
- Purple Violet/Velvet (3846)
- Regal (3708)
- Dahlia Purple (3839)
- Lavender Blue (3847)
- Natural (3718)
- I’ll add the border after blocking but I haven’t decided on which join I’ll use yet.
